This course ensures seafarers with a valid initial STCW Proficiency in Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting can revalidate their competency in accordance with Section A-VI/1 of STCW paragraph 3.

Course Overview
Prerequisites
- Be at least 16 years of age
- An STCW Proficiency in Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting certificate or an accepted equivalent
Course Content
Delegates completing an STCW Updated Proficiency in Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting training course will be able to;
- Correctly use portable and mobile (wheeled) fire extinguishers on appropriate fires
- Correctly use hoses, nozzles and hose equipment
- Extinguish different types of fires as a member of a team using a range of equipment commonly found on board a vessel
- Test and use breathing apparatus and associated equipment
Target Audience
Seafarers who hold an existing Basic Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (FP&FF) certificate are required to complete this update training course to maintain proficiency under the STCW 2010 Manila Amendments (STCW Section A-VI/1 & table A-VI/1-1).
Certification
A Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA) certificate will be provided upon successful completion of this course.
Revalidation
The course must be revalidated every 5 years.

Health Prerequisites
Due to certain aspects of the course being potentially physically demanding and/or stressful, delegates will be required to confirm their medical fitness & physical ability to participate on this course by completing our centre medical self-screening form prior to course commencement.
