The OPITO Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) Controlling Emergencies Competence Assessment tests competency of an OIM against OPITO standards. Learners will take part in a minimum of 3 maximum of 4 realistic emergency scenarios in a purpose-built simulator which replicates the main features of the Learner’s own installation.

Course Overview
Prerequisites
A formal declaration and supporting evidence from the learner’s employer confirming that the learner has achieved the performance criteria in Outcome 1 Maintain a state of readiness in the workplace, satisfied the core essential knowledge criteria 1.7 and asset type knowledge requirements criteria 1.8 and that the learner has been deemed ready for formal assessment against outcomes 2 - 6 must be provided.
In addition, a formal declaration from the employing company confirming if the company discipline expert will be in attendance or if their preference would be for us to arrange this on their behalf. (a link to the Outcome 1 and discipline expert declaration document will be included with the joining instructions)

Course Content
- Formative exercises are held prior to formal assessment to allow the learner to become familiar with the process and the simulator.
- Complete a minimum of three, maximum of four emergency response scenarios which cover:
- threat to life
- threat to environment
- threat to plant and equipment.
- Demonstrate competency against the OPITO Offshore Installation Manager Controlling Emergencies Standard.
Target Audience
Offshore Installation Managers (OIMs) and other senior staff.
Certification
An OPITO certificate and assessment report will be issued upon successful course completion
Revalidation
There is no formal expiry date, however, it is recommended that learners are re-assessed as a minimum, every 3 years
