The OPITO Major Emergency Management Initial Response course is designed to introduce learners to the principles of major emergency management being the first stage in their development as Emergency Managers.
Learners will have the opportunity to participate in theory sessions, desktop exercises and realistic simulated exercises using purpose-built simulators.

Course Content
Classroom presentations are followed by stimulating realistic simulated scenarios conducted in a purpose-built simulator based on a generic offshore installation.
Delegates have the opportunity to role-play as the emergency manager in at least two specific types of emergency scenarios. This is a key element of the training programme and is backed up by constructive feedback from the course instructional team.
Target Audience
Personnel who are either designated as being in charge of, are members of, or provide support to an Emergency Management Team in an emergency.
Certification
An OPITO certificate and performance appraisal of the learner’s knowledge and any performance gaps identified during training will be issued upon successful course completion.
Revalidation
There is no revalidation requirement for this training programme.

Health Prerequisites
Due to certain aspects of the course being potentially physically demanding and/or stressful, delegates will be required to confirm their medical fitness & physical ability to participate on this course by completing our centre medical self-screening form prior to course commencement.
