Course Overview

This course is designed to meet the Daughter craft coxswain training and development requirements for ERRV crew-members.

The course is a combination of theoretical and practical sessions. Delegates are assessed continuously during the course.

Certain aspects of the course are of a physical nature and may include lifting, climbing and pulling. Delegates must declare at course commencement any pre-existing medical condition that could be exacerbated by, or impair their ability to complete the training programme. For certain medical conditions, delegates must have undergone a medical since being diagnosed.

Prerequisites

Attendance on this training course is open to delegates who: Are in possession of a valid FRC Coxswain Certificate and three months sea time as an FRC Coxswain.

Have successfully completed a mandatory Pre-Course Learning Programme that includes regulations and buoyage. You can find this under the “pre-reading” material section of the Joining Instructions.

Course Content

An OPITO-approved ERRV Crew Daughter Craft Coxswain training course meets the initial training requirements for the role of an Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel (ERRV) Daughter Craft Coxswain.

An OPITO certificate will be issued upon successful course completion.

Revalidation

The course must be revalidated every 3 years.
