DSIP 1The Drilling Systems Instructor Programme  - DSIP

The purpose of the DSIP is to ensure that instructors have a clear understanding of our simulator capabilities and how to utilize the simulator to deliver effective learning, development and competence programs. The DSIP also has the capacity to provide customers with the ability to develop their Instructors to advanced levels by becoming fully qualified and competent instructors and assessors if required.

Drilling Systems is committed to going beyond providing the best-in-class simulation technology by supporting our customers with solutions to enhance the value of your simulator and provide the expertise to help develop your instructors so they can maximize your return on investment by utilizing the simulator to its maximum capability.

Organizations who have made an investment with the purchase of simulation technology need to ensure that the personnel who operate the equipment are qualified, competent and capable of delivering highly effective and efficient training.

We recognize that each organization’s needs may differ and that their training personnel will have varying levels of competence and experience. With this in mind, we have created three levels of service within the DSIP: Silver, Gold and Platinum, which can be matched to your organizations specific needs.

How it works

DSIP Candidates will learn and develop through a combination of theoretical classroom studies and practical work on the simulators both as individuals and during group work with IAS Instructor SMEs coaching and mentoring.

The DSIP candidates will also be assessed by the IAS Instructor SMEs and/or IAS Training Development and Competence Manager during the entirety of the program for competence, suitability and performance, the outcome of this final assessment would then be provided to the customer’s management team.

Who is it suitable for?

Organizations who have made an investment with the purchase of simulation technology need to ensure that the personnel who operate the equipment are qualified, competent and capable of delivering highly effective and efficient training.

Due to the rigorous and intense nature of the DSIP programs candidates should be carefully selected and it is advised that organizations should implement a rigorous selection process to ensure that the correct Trainee Instructor has been identified.

Selection should be based on their industry experience and the candidates should be deemed competent in the position they hold and also be confident and able to talk in a classroom environment.

If required the Drilling Systems IAS team can assist with the candidate selection process.

A basic selection procedure should consider the following:

Candidates selected should have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in their selected disciplines in a supervisory position. The following fields of experience would be recommended as a minimum:

How long is the course?

The DSIP has three different levels of program because we recognize that the training personnel for each organization will have varying levels of competence and experience, so we have created the Silver, Gold and Platinum packages which would allow the customer to choose whichever level matches their organizations specific needs.

The expected duration for completion of each program level is:

  • Silver level: 1 week
  • Gold level: 3 weeks
