At some point in the life of all oil and gas wells, parts will require maintenance, repair or replacement. An operation carried out on an oil or gas well to extend its producing life by improving performance or providing access to stranded or additional hydrocarbon reserves is known as an intervention. At these times, operators turn to well intervention specialists, who in turn perform a variety of either light or heavy interventions, which might include Wireline, Coiled tubing and Workover operations.
One major issue and challenge around the globe in the oilfield is “skills fade”. How do you ensure that knowledge and skills remain current in everyone's minds, with a particular focus on handling contingency events. Whether it be landing a plane on the Hudson River or dealing with/preventing a hydrocarbons release, workers need the knowledge, skills and abilities to react and apply the appropriate and immediate responses in line with industry or company standards and regulations. With this in mind, Drilling Systems has developed a full suite of Completion and Well Intervention simulators to train personnel for operational readiness in;
